DUTCH SYSTEMATIC FUND

Returns independent of market direction.

Targeting 12 to 16% net per year, uncorrelated to equity markets. Minimum investment €100,000.

Proprietary algorithms on the currency markets, combined with a selective fund-of-funds allocation to external managers. Monthly entry and exit.

TradeWell Capital is registered with the AFM as an AIFM under Article 2:66a Wft (Fund ID: 50039552).

WHY TRADEWELL CAPITAL

What makes TradeWell unique

Return in both markets

The fund aims to make a return in markets going up and markets going down. Its return does not depend on shares rising, including in years when equity markets fall.

Selective fund-of-funds

Part of the capital is allocated to a selective range of external managers that follow the same systematic methodology, broadening diversification.

No lock-up period

Monthly subscription and redemption, with no multi-year lock-up. A 1.5% exit fee applies only within the first 12 months, none thereafter.

Proprietary algorithms in FX

A proprietary AI research platform develops, validates and continuously refines systematic strategies, with FX as the core component, executed by fixed rules under continuous oversight.

Governance

AFM-registered as AIFM (Art. 2:66a Wft), with independent administration and NAV calculation by AssetCare and investor capital segregated via an independent Stichting.

The fund earns its return in the currency markets, not from shares going up. The difference is clearest in years when share markets fell: in 2022 the AEX lost 13.7% while the fund gained 10.1%. That makes TradeWell Capital a strong addition to an existing portfolio: capital can be added or taken out every month, and the fund aims to make a return whether markets rise or fall.

Henk Portier
Henk Portier
STRATEGIC ADVISOR

“TradeWell Capital is built to be exactly that. Proprietary algorithms trade the currency markets by fixed rules and take positions in both directions, so the fund aims to earn whether markets rise or fall. A selective fund of funds structure adds external managers alongside them, which creates diversification inside the fund itself. The track record is documented and capital can be withdrawn every month.”

WHO WE SERVE

Built for three types of investors

Entrepreneurs and holdings

Capital in the holding company earns almost nothing on deposit.

  • Puts idle company capital to work: a target return of 12 to 16% net per year instead of near-zero deposit rates
  • The capital stays available for the business: withdraw monthly, no lock-up
  • Aims to earn in rising and falling markets, so the reserve is not tied to the stock market
  • Access to exclusive funds that normally require €500,000 to €1 million to enter, through a single investment

Participation starts at €100,000

Private investors

Most assets you own follow the market direction.

  • An allocation that does not follow the market: it aims to return in rising and falling markets, alongside your portfolio
  • Kept growing in 2022 (+10.1%) while the AEX fell 13.7%
  • Enter and exit each month, with a full track record since day one
  • Access to exclusive funds that normally require €500,000 to €1 million to enter, through a single investment

Participation starts at €100,000

Family offices

You need a holding that does not move with the rest of the portfolio.

  • An uncorrelated building block: returns from currencies, not shares or bonds
  • One investment gives access to several selective funds run on the same methodology: return in rising and falling markets, with low correlation
  • Monthly liquidity within a regulated, segregated structure

Participation starts at €100,000

How it works

Our AI research platform continuously generates and tests new strategy candidates.

Fewer than 1 in 200 make it through validation into the fund.

Capital is spread across multiple in-house strategies and selected external managers.

Every strategy operates within predefined risk limits, monitored in real time.

Underperforming strategies are automatically paused and replaced.

Joan Horbeek

For forty years I worked in international energy projects. One mistake could cost millions. That is how you learn to put risk before return.

FOUNDER-ALIGNED CAPITAL

Founder Joan Horbeek invests personal capital in the same fund accounts as external investors, under the same risk framework.

That discipline is the foundation of TradeWell. Over two decades at Shell, GDF Suez and One-Dyas, Joan Horbeek built a background in operational risk management. He founded the fund because he saw too many decisions in the market made on instinct, and too few on fixed rules and governance. TradeWell brings that approach to systematic investing.

▷Decades of operational risk discipline
▷Personal capital in the fund
▷No sentiment-driven positions
▷Transparency and risk first

The AI research platform behind the Fund

TradeWell Capital is built around a proprietary AI research platform for systematic strategies. Every strategy passes through out-of-sample analysis and a live testing period before it manages capital.

PIPELINE THROUGHPUT
~1000/quarter

Strategies generated and backtested

PRODUCTION PASS RATE
< 0.5%

Only strategies with a demonstrable edge

ALLOCATION CYCLE
Weekly

Continuous reweighting based on performance

Currency markets shift in regimes that static models or human intuition describe poorly. Our edge lies in systematic scale: an infrastructure that continuously generates and validates new strategies and puts only the best into production.

DOCUMENTED PERFORMANCE

Explore the evidence behind TradeWell Capital.

Our three research principles

Three principles form the basis of the research process. They apply to every strategy that reaches production.

01

Scale over selection

An experienced quant might build, tune and validate three strategies a year. The platform generates ~1,000 strategies per quarter.

02

Risk before return

We define risk parameters, exposure limits and correlation thresholds before we look at return. Capital preservation is the first selection criterion.

03

Systems over operators

Strategies are executed and monitored systematically only. On underperformance, a mandate is paused or replaced by another candidate from the pipeline. The human work is in orchestrating and validating the process, not in executing it.

From hypothesis to allocation in four steps

Generate

The platform systematically produces new strategy hypotheses by exploring parameter spaces across asset classes, timeframes and signal types. Algorithmic generation at scale.

Backtest

Each strategy is tested against ten years of historical data, across different market regimes, with realistic transaction costs, slippage and liquidity constraints. We look for evidence of robustness, not evidence of curve-fitting.

Select

Strategies pass a multi-stage risk filter: minimum Sharpe, maximum drawdown, correlation with existing portfolio holdings, and stability across out-of-sample periods. Fewer than 1 in 200 make it through all gates.

Allocate

Selected strategies are added to the live portfolio on a weighted basis, according to risk-adjusted edge and correlation with existing systems. Underperforming strategies are automatically paused and replaced.

01

A proprietary AI research platform at the core of the fund

The platform produces several hundred strategy candidates per month through automated parameter exploration across timeframes and signal types. Each candidate is tested against ten years of historical data, with realistic costs and slippage. What enters production first passes out-of-sample analysis and a live testing period at limited exposure.

FOUNDER STATEMENT

Risk & governance

At TradeWell Capital, risk management is at the basis of every decision. The Fund operates within a predefined risk framework, supported by independent administration and legal separation of investor capital.

Our approach to capital protection

We believe durable performance is the result of disciplined risk management rather than market forecasts or timing. The Fund operates with a multi-strategy architecture underpinned by a uniform risk framework.

Regardless of which specific strategies are active, the oversight infrastructure stays constant. The underlying strategies may vary to exploit different market conditions, but the risk framework and governance structure do not change with them.

The risk framework

Predefined risk limits and drawdown controls

Each strategy operates within clearly defined risk parameters including exposure limits, leverage constraints and drawdown thresholds.
These limits apply at both strategy and portfolio level.

Risk controls are set before capital is deployed.

Real-time monitoring and automated controls

All active strategies are continuously monitored against predefined alert thresholds. Exposure, performance and system behaviour are tracked in real time within our internal tooling.

When a predefined limit is approached or breached, automatic protective measures take effect to reduce risk and protect capital.

Sub-system diversification

Capital is spread across multiple independent sub-systems selected for low mutual correlation and diversity of market exposure.

Alongside its in-house systems, the Fund allocates through a fund-of-funds structure to external, uncorrelated managers. When one system underperforms in a given regime, independent systems elsewhere in the portfolio can offset it.

Ongoing review and performance discipline

Underperforming or unstable systems are adjusted or removed from the active portfolio to preserve the integrity of the overall portfolio. Adding a new strategy to production requires that it passes all risk filters.

Independent oversight and control

Our governance is built on separated responsibilities. No single critical function rests with one party alone. The following roles and responsibilities are assigned independently of one another.

Structural protection of investor capital

Beyond the portfolio-level risk framework, investor capital is protected by three structural layers. These layers are legally and operationally anchored, independent of market conditions or fund performance.

01

Legal segregation

Investor capital is legally owned by the Stichting Legal Owner TradeWell Capital Fund. It sits on a separate balance sheet and is not commingled with the balance sheet or assets of TradeWell Capital B.V. In the unlikely event of financial trouble at the management vehicle, the fund assets remain legally protected.

02

Independent administration

AssetCare performs NAV calculation, investor reporting and subscription/redemption processing as an independent party. The Fund's management has no access to the calculation of the NAV. Investors receive reporting directly via the AssetCare portal.

03

Regulatory supervision

TradeWell Capital B.V. is registered with the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets as an Alternative Investment Fund Manager under Article 2:66a Wft. The Fund operates within the AIFMD registration regime and is subject to the relevant notification and reporting obligations.

How the team is structured

A focused team with clear role allocation, supported by specialised external partners for administration, custody and compliance.

TradeWell Capital works with an experienced team. Every role is clearly assigned: strategy research, risk management, investor relations, finance and operations are held independently of one another within the team.

Specialist functions including fund administration, NAV calculation, custody and banking are outsourced to independent parties. AssetCare handles administration and NAV calculation, Stichting Legal Owner is the legal owner of the fund assets, Interactive Brokers (IBKR) handles execution and Rabobank provides operational banking.

This keeps the internal team focused on research, the portfolio and the relationship with investors. The governance lines stay clear and no critical function rests with one party alone.

Our philosophy

Markets are complex, adaptive, and often unpredictable. Attempting to forecast short-term movements introduces unnecessary noise and behavioural bias.

TradeWell Capital is built on the conviction that discipline, structure and risk control create more durable outcomes than discretionary decision-making.

Social Commitment

Capital with purpose.

At TradeWell Capital, we believe long-term value creation extends beyond financial returns. We support two initiatives that are close to our firm and reflect who we are.

ZOA Burundi

ZOA is an international relief and recovery organisation operating in some of the world's most fragile contexts. In Burundi, one of the least developed countries globally, ZOA works to restore dignity, resilience and opportunity for communities affected by poverty and displacement.

Our involvement began personally. Joan Horbeek, founder and CEO of TradeWell Capital, has supported and been actively involved in ZOA's work in Burundi since 2019. From 2026 onwards, TradeWell Capital as a firm shares part of its profit with the ZOA Burundi programme. It is a reflection of our belief that capital, when directed with purpose, creates lasting change far beyond financial markets.

Henk Portier joins TradeWell Capital

Forty-four years in financial markets, governance and compliance

Henk Portier has joined TradeWell Capital as an external strategic adviser. He spent forty-four years at OHV, where he helped the firm grow from a broker in the money, capital, currency and energy markets into one of the larger independent asset managers in the Netherlands, with several billion in assets under management. As managing partner he held senior positions across the Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk, HR and Finance departments. As a member of the management board and Compliance Officer he shared responsibility for client due diligence, risk management and the professionalisation of the organisation.

His role at TradeWell Capital is advisory and focuses on governance, structure, investor relations and controlled growth.

"I have seen OHV grow from an intermediary in the financial markets into an asset management organisation with billions under management. That path calls first for structure and only then for scale. TradeWell Capital is at the start of that path and has understood that order well. I am glad to contribute to it."
